We are excited to welcome Elly Sawa to our Bougainville team as BCL’s newly appointed Bougainville Community Relations Coordinator. Elly joins the company following the departure of Genevieve Itta and will spearhead our endeavours across the Panguna project area.
Elly arrives during a transformative period for BCL as a truly local company and as a community relations specialist he is highly regarded for his collaborative, respectful and outcomes-driven approach. A proud Bougainvillean, he brings to the role more than 15 years’ experience working in the mining and oil & gas sector.
Most recently he served as the Secretary Community Government with the ABG. Prior to this he has worked in various senior community relations, technical advisory and social impact monitoring roles with Exxon, the Morobe Mining Joint Venture, and Newcrest Mining.
Elly possesses a Bachelor of Technology in Communication for Development from the PNG University of Technology and a Graduate Diploma in Community Relations in Resources from the University of Queensland. Elly is keen to hit the ground running and already has well-established connections with government, landowners, and the broader community.
