Bougainville Copper was pleased to sponsor New Dawn FM’s live broadcast of the ABG business forum in Buka on 24 May to discuss progress on the region’s economic roadmap and actions to improve the rule of law.
Aloysius Laukai and his team at NEW DAWN FM NEWS work tirelessly to enable Bougainvilleans to have access to important news and local events, including community festivals through their broadcasts. Yesterday’s forum gave business and other local groups the opportunity to share their views on economic development and Bougainville’s legal framework which is critical for investor and business confidence.
A key part of the economic roadmap is to attract new investment to Bougainville to support revenue growth and job creation. The ABG’s Secretary of Commerce, Trade and Economic Development, Alex Kerangpuna for example explained plans to establish three balsa factories in northern, central, and southern Bougainville.
Future trade missions are also planned to encourage international investors to do business in the region while labour mobility schemes will provide opportunities for Bougainvilleans to develop skills in other markets such as Australian agriculture.
