The importance of reading and literacy cannot be overstated and BCL has long been a proud supporter of local efforts to build capacity in these areas.
Activities such as the recent National Book Week are so worthwhile in that they encourage the enjoyment of reading among young people. This year’s theme of ‘Reading Transforms Livelihoods’ captures how reading, literacy and education can help shape Bougainville’s future.
This year will also mark the 29th anniversary of National Literacy Week which will take place from the 2nd until the 6th of September. The theme for Bougainville schools is to be ‘Literate, Innovative and Creative’. BCL is delighted to be supporting the ABG’s Department of Education with its various activities.
