The President, Councillors, staff and members of the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum note with deep sadness the passing of the late Paul Coleman, our long-time friend and colleague.
Paul served on the Council of the Chamber for many years and was respected for his knowledge and experience covering many issues. A strategic leader, he was thoughtful and was always relied upon to give wise counsel, this we will surely miss.
We admired particularly his devotion, his passion and how he was resolute about rebuilding the relationship between the Autonomous Bougainville Government, the communities around the Panguna mine, the State and the company, indeed for the betterment of all stakeholders. This is clearly a highlight of his long term contribution to the development of the mining industry in Papua New Guinea.
A champion of a person, Paul was committed to a number of charities and community activities and his services will be sadly missed by his many friends and the benefactors of these organisations.
His good works and service was duly recognised by the Government of Papua New Guinea, when Her Majesty invested Paul the Order of the British Empire (OBE), a truly worthy recipient.
