The 2023 Bougainville Inter-High and Secondary Schools Carnival delivered an exciting week of athletics and sport hosted by Arawa Secondary School. The event theme was promoting education and unity for independence through sport. Fourteen schools from across the region were represented with athletes competing across a range of track and field events as well as ball sports, including soccer, volleyball, rugby, and basketball. BCL was delighted to provide the medals and trophies for the carnival to ensure that all winners and placegetters were well recognised for their efforts.
Team MASI came out on top of the medal tally with a powerful all-round display and represented by athletes from Mabiri High and Asitavi Secondary. Several other schools also put in notable performances, such as Hutjena Secondary School, Bishop Wade Technical Secondary School, Nissan High School, Arawa Secondary School, and Tonu Secondary School. Organisers commended all schools for their sportsmanship and competitive spirit.
