The Siwai Cultural Show held on 22 and 23 September celebrated the unique cultural, historical, and natural features of Siwai District in Bougainville’s South.
BCL was delighted to again partner with the Siwai Cultural Tourism Association to provide key sponsorship for this terrific event. We also partnered with New Dawn FM to support live broadcasts throughout. The show featured local music, dance, arts, crafts, and food. Members of the BCL Arawa team spent the Friday at the show and were pleased to be welcomed by lead organiser Peter Suinai and Member for Kopi, Dr Joseph Kim Swuamaru. They also had good discussions with ABG education minister Thomas Paataku and community development minister Morris Opeti.
Planning is already afoot for a bigger show next year. All involved should be extremely proud of their efforts to bring to people the great things this part of Bougainville has to offer.
