Notice to ASX
7 November 2024
Bougainville Copper Limited (BOC) has entered into a Land Access and Compensation Agreement (LACA) with customary landowners with respect to the company’s EL01 exploration licence for the Panguna project area.
The LACA was signed by traditional landowners representing 510 blocks which covers approximately 37.74 sq kms, during a ceremony in Panguna on 6 November. In accordance with the Bougainville Mining Act 2015, the agreement provides for consensual access to and use of land for licence holder works, including pre-feasibility and feasibility related activities.
The signing of the LACA marks a significant milestone in the exploration phase, after the decision by the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) to grant BOC a five-year exploration licence in January 2024. The signing follows a period of extensive consultation with a range of stakeholders, including landowners and their representatives, the ABG, community government, veterans and women’s leaders.
