Dame Carol was appointed a director in April 2013 having retired from the parliament of Papua New Guinea in 2012 after 15 years in politics.

She was Minister for Community Development for nine years and finished her political career as leader of the opposition.

Dame Carol focused on legislative and policy reform for social development and established the parliamentary committee on HIV in 2003 and parliamentary group of population and development in 2008.

Dame Carol has been awarded four honorary doctorates (UNRE- Rabaul, UPNG, Queensland University and Deakin University). She is the inaugural Sir Ebia Olewale chair of PNG Studies at Deakin University and is the principal of CK Consultancy Limited.
