Bougainville Copper Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr David Osikore to the company’s board of directors.
Mr Osikore, 57, brings 30 years’ experience in the exploration and mining industries in both Papua New Guinea and Australia to the role and was born in Buin, Bougainville.
He commenced his career with the Papua New Guinea Department of Mines, attached to the geological survey division, and went on to work with various exploration and mining companies, including BCL, Placer Dome Group of companies, Ingold, Renision Goldfields Limited, Porgera Joint Venture, Misima Mines, Placer PNG Explorations, Aurora Gold, Abelle Limited, Morobe Consolidated Goldfields, Harmony PNG and Pacific Niugini Minerals Limited.
During his career Mr Osikore has served in roles ranging from exploration geologist, director and managing director. He was one of the founding directors of Pantoro Limited and served on its board from 2008 to 2016 and is also currently on the board of Pacific Niugini Minerals PNG, a limited subsidiary of Pantoro Limited.
Mr Osikore nominates his involvement with the prefeasibility study associated with PNG’s Hidden Valley and Hamata gold projects along with regional exploration in outlying tenements among career highlights.
He has extensive experience in PNG engaging at different levels of business, government and with project area landowners; holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (geology) from the University of Papua New Guinea and is a professional Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (MAusIMM).
BCL chairman Sir Mel Togolo said Mr Osikore was extremely well-respected and brought invaluable industry experience and a keen local perspective to the board.
“We are delighted that David has agreed to join given his breadth of experience, technical expertise and the industry knowledge he has garnered having worked for three decades in PNG, Bougainville and abroad on various gold, silver and copper mining projects,” he said.
